Dukes & Duchess Kuala Lumpur is a restaurant and wine bar in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail (TTDI). At the kitchen’s helm is Chef Don Theseira, who has a long career serving in several prestigious hotels in Singapore and Australia.

Our lunch at Dukes & Duchess begins with soup of the day (RM12.00). The Vegetable Soup is reasonably tasty and helps to build appetite off the bat.

The meal progresses to Garlic Bread & Chili Con Carne (RM22.00). Chili con carne is a savory dish which contains ground pork, chili peppers, beans and tomatoes. It comes with a slice of garlic bread, which I think can use more garlic butter.

Moving on to the main dish, the Italian Grilled Pork Belly (RM40.00) is one of the signature dishes here. The succulent pork belly has a perfect mixture of lean and fatty tissues. Marinated with Italian herbs, the pork is nicely done. This dish comes with BBQ sauce, fries and grilled vegetables on the side.

Grilled Pork Chop (RM30.00) is another dish that we ordered. Marinated with lemongrass, ginger and garlic, the pork chop is topped with crispy bacon. Side dishes are fries and grilled vegetables. In my opinion, the pork chop is slightly drier than it should be. The portion is also rather small.

Butter Rice Pork Chop (RM30.00) is similar to the previous dish but with different sides. Although the butter rice is quite fragrant, it somewhat lacks the signature buttery taste. There is certainly some room for improvement here. In this dish, salad replaces grilled vegetables.

The Molten Lava Cake (RM16.00) is rich in genuine cocoa goodness. This fact is further amplified by molten chocolate which oozes out as soon as the cake is punctured. This dessert comes with a scoop of ice cream; available flavors are vanilla and yam.

The food at Dukes & Duchess is generally well prepared. As for pricing, I find the à la carte menu to be on the costlier side. On the other hand, the set lunch here is reasonably priced. This offer is available daily including weekends.
