Update: This business has ceased its operations.

i-Avenue is home to a number of nice eateries. Among them is Sandwhich, a café centered on sandwiches but also serves a decent menu of pastry and light meals.

My meal of choice today is the Chicken Carbonara (RM8.90). The spaghetti is well-flavored with rich creamy sauce, also accompanied with chicken chunks, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms. Parsley on top provides fresh aroma. The pasta is reasonably good, but I believe it can use more olive oil to suit my palate.

For something lighter, the Grilled Chicken Wrap (RM7.90) is also a good choice. The wrap consists of grilled chicken, lettuce and tomato enveloped in a piece of flatbread. The grilled chicken is quite delectable, making each chew on the starchy flatbread very refreshing and enjoyable.

On the other hand, I feel that the amount of ranch and mayonnaise dressings are excessive. I prefer the flavor of chicken to take the center stage in a chicken wrap.

My dessert is a slice of Pavlova Roll (RM5.90), which comes in a reasonably large portion. This is a popular type of pastry in New Zealand and Australia, although it is actually named after a Russian ballet dancer.

Essentially, this pastry is made from a layer of crispy crust with soft fruity meringue inside. It is difficult to identify the actual fruits used for the meringue, but it definitely feels light due to the use of whipped egg white. Besides fruits, sweetness is also contributed by fine powdered sugar. The Pavlova Roll is a highly recommended dessert; I am glad to have selected this.

My dining experience had been quite pleasant until it was abruptly ruined by a tactless employee. Very often than not, one bad egg can simply ruin the whole basket. It makes me wonder whether the employee knows who is paying the bill. Oh well…
