Te Wei Noodle Restaurant

The most popular eatery at Pan Palace Plaza in Taman Lip Sin is probably the breakfast dim sum at Lip Sin Red Tea House. As for the shop lot on the other side of this building, many restaurants have replaced one another in quick succession. The current tenant is Te Wei Noodle Restaurant (特味面食馆), which succeeded G Xiang (奇香港式风味云吞面) not too long ago.

The dining area is plain and simple. This is necessary to keep the cost down. Keep in mind that nearby residents do not have the spending power to splurge on food.

As for the menu, the vast majority of items are noodles in different types of soup: clear soup (清汤) or tom yum (东炎). Most choices differ slightly in terms of meat ingredients. Porridge is also available on the menu.

My choice today is Special QQ Meat Ball Mee (特味QQ猪肉面, RM4.50). This dish contains 5 pieces of meatballs in clear soup. My noodle of choice is koay teow (粿条).

The clear soup is quite bland, hardly any flavor whatsoever. My suggestion is to use more chicken stock for more appealing taste.

Similarly, the pork meatballs are also lacking in flavor. I think some seasoning like pepper should help.

As for drinks, I ordered a glass of warm Lor Han Guo (罗汉果, RM1.30). This drink is made in-house and does not include sugar. Just my ideal cup of tea!

While the food taste at this eatery leaves much room for improvement, it is at least affordable. The price is very similar to hawker stalls. Note that this place is air-conditioned, although the air is not really cool due to the restaurant’s large entrance that does not have an air curtain.
