Special thanks to Marshall’s Burger for extending this food review invitation.
Update: This business has ceased its operations.
Today’s dinner brings me back to Marshall’s Burger at Bay Avenue. Two things have transpired since my last visit. Firstly, the facade signboard has been renamed from “Marshall’s” to “Marshall’s Burger”. This should eliminate confusion among people who are unfamiliar with Marshall’s nature of business.
Secondly and equally noteworthy, operation of this Bay Avenue outlet has been delegated to a franchisee starting this month. I guess it doesn’t really matter to customers as long as they can still experience the same quality of food, service and atmosphere. Note: The Tanjung Bungah outlet is still being operated by the franchisor.
The interior dĂ©cor remains largely unchanged. Plywood-top tables and solid stools are arranged neatly against red and gray backdrop of Marshall’s Burger.
Like before, the food menu at Marshall’s Burger is organized into four main categories: pork, beef, chicken and fish. Each category is tiered with different combinations of patties, cheddar cheese and pork bacon.
At Marshall’s Burger, pork and beef patties are prepared in-house. Absolutely no filler is used.
Each Ă la carte burger can be upgraded to a set meal for an additional RM6.50. The set meal includes a side of fries and a choice of carbonated beverage. Fries can be substituted with onion rings at no additional cost. It is great to see that Hot Wings is still available.
My visit today is primarily to review three new burgers which Marshall’s Burger is rolling out this month: Oozee Piggy, Cheezee Cow and Greedee Chic. Each of these new burgers contains a slice of cheddar cheese and a bacon strip. These burgers (Ă la carte price of RM12.80) serve as a compromise between a slice of cheddar cheese (RM11.80) and two bacon strips (RM12.80). Previously, customers have to choose in between. Now everyone can have both!
The Oozee Piggy is the standard-issue single pork patty burger, now with enhanced goodness from both cheese and bacon. The pork patty packs 140 grams of ground pork, making this a respectable meal not to be toyed with. This burger is served with iceberg lettuce, onion and tomato. Pork burgers are Marshall’s bestsellers. It is also unsurprising that they are my personal favorite too.
Customers who prefer bovine over swine (as food, not at the petting farm) can try the all-new Cheezee Cow. The single beef patty carries 160 grams of awesome juiciness. Like the previous burger, it is served with cheddar cheese, bacon strip, iceberg lettuce, onion and tomato. The texture of beef is coarser than pork but arguably more “solid”.
If poultry is your cup of tea, the new Greedee Chic may appeal to your palate. This burger includes a piece of chicken thigh cutlet, a slice of cheddar cheese, a bacon strip, coleslaw salad and tomato. The chicken flesh is tender and most flavorful. Certainly the meat is well-marinated and well-cooked.
For set meals, the fries used is steak fries, i.e. fries with thicker cuts and is often served with steak. The drink is either carbonated beverage or Dasani bottled water. Marshall’s Burger has introduced hot drinks recently: Milo (RM3.80), Mocha (RM3.50) and White Coffee (RM3.50). However, these drinks are not available as part of regular set meals.
Marshall’s Burger has several on-going offers to appeal to price-savvy customers. Marshall’s Hour is from 3:00pm to 6:00pm daily. A set meal (from a selected list of burgers including the three new ones) is offered at RM14.00. For an additional RM1.00, the carbonated drink can be substituted with a hot drink.
For a quick bite during lunch break, Marshall’s Set Lunch is available from 12:00pm to 3:00pm on weekdays. Each set meal (including any of the three new burgers) is available for only RM15.80. Under normal circumstances, food is usually served under 10 minutes.
If you feel too inconvenient to travel to Marshall’s Burger, let your food travel to you! Powered by Deliver Eat, the delivery menu includes any Ă la carte or set meals, but not special offers like Marshall’s Hour or Marshall’s Set Lunch.
One noteworthy observation is that Marshall’s Burger puts heavy focus on customer satisfaction. If you want to experience how good customer service feels like, Marshall’s Burger is a role model.
