Update: This business has ceased its operations.

Suki-Ya (すき屋) is a chain of Japanese restaurants that offers all-you-can-eat hot pot. There are several locations in Klang Valley. We visited the outlet in Klang Parade today.

Suki-Ya’s buffet is divided into 2 sessions: lunch (11:00am-5:00pm) and dinner (5:00pm-10:00pm). Customers have 2 hours to enjoy their meals.

Suki-Ya offers 4 soup bases: shabu-shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ), sukiyaki (すき焼き), miso (味噌味) and kimuchi (キムチ). Each table can choose 2 types; we opted for sukiyaki and kimuchi.

The buffet counter has seafood ingredients such as prawns, round clams and bamboo clams. The seafood ingredients at Suki-Ya are surprisingly fresh.

Meanwhile, sliced meat can be ordered through the waiters. Meat choices are beef, lamb, chicken and fish. I highly recommend minced meat too.

Suki-Ya provides several condiments like gomatare (ごまタレ), misotare (味噌タレ) and ponzu (ぽん酢). Since we are having sukiyaki, we also used raw eggs (生玉子) as a dipping sauce.

While waiting for the hot pot to boil, diners can help themselves to ready-to-eat dishes such as sushi (寿司) from the buffet counter. Soy sauce, wasabi and picked ginger are provided.

Soft serve ice cream is available in matcha and chocolate flavors. Diners also enjoy free flow of green tea and soft drinks throughout the meal.

Customers can supplement their meals with à carte dishes such as sashimi (刺身), gyoza (餃子), tempura (天ぷら) and garlic fried rice (にんにく焼き飯). These food items are not included in the standard package and have to be ordered separately. Suki-Ya does not serve pork.
