Saffron is a café at the sub-basement level of Prangin Mall. The eatery is right next to Pizzaiola and Imperial Chinese Cuisine, all of which are under the same management. Besides coffee, Saffron has a small food menu too.
My meal begins with a bowl of Mushroom Soup (RM9.00). It is palatable but the taste can be further improved. The soup comes with toasted garlic bread.
Aglio Olio Seafood (RM20.00) is served with shrimps, mussels, squid, mushrooms and black olives. I think its spiciness is too one-dimensional. In addition, the pasta is too dry for me.
The meal comes with a glass of Iced Lemon Tea. Nothing to shout about here.
As for dessert, Affogato (RM7.00) consists of vanilla ice cream topped with a shot of hot espresso and roasted walnuts. The mild bitter aftertaste of coffee is quite enjoyable.
With light music in the background, the ambience at Saffron is reasonably cozy. However, I feel the table service leaves a lot to be desired. This is despite the fact that the café is mostly unoccupied during my visit.
