Titi Yong Tow Foo

Kedai Makanan Titi Yong Tow Foo (知知港海鲜) an old shop in Sri Rampai. As far as I can recall, this place was popular for its yong tau foo (酿豆腐) back in the 1990s. Back when Ampang dominated the yong tau foo scene, outstation folks even take the trouble to seek out famous shops like this one.

Today’s visit is not for yong tau foo, but rather for its dim sum (点心). Siew Mai (烧卖) is probably the most recognizable dim sum item. There are 2 types there: with roe and with shrimps. Honestly, I feel that the fish paste is quite bland.

Meanwhile, Har Gow (虾饺) has skin that is way too thick, making the overall taste too starchy to really enjoy its shrimp filling. On the other hand, Fish Paste (鱼滑) is acceptable but this is only because it does not require much seasoning.

Fu Pei Gyun (腐皮卷) is served with mayonnaise. The taste of the tofu skin is acceptable but I think it is slightly greasy.

Lotus Leaf Rice (糯米鸡) is made from steamed glutinous rice, chicken and mushrooms. The main appeal is its extremely savory taste. This is the only commendable item during my meal.

Overall, I feel that the food quality leaves a lot to be desired. It is quite common to find other shops in Kuala Lumpur with similar quality but at more affordable prices.
