Butter & Olive

Butter & Olive Wholesome Pastry House (台欧烘培工坊) has an outlet next to Tesco Extra Penang. Not only does the bakery sell bread, Butter & Olive also serves proper meals and espresso coffee.

The Value Set Meal (RM10.90) allows dine-in customers to choose between chicken and fish; each has several options for the sauce. Today, my choice is Marmite Sauce Chicken (妈蜜酱鸡肉). I feel that the chicken is slightly undercooked. This dish comes with a heap of rice and a fried egg.

The Value Set Meal includes a drink of customer’s choice. I opted for Roselle Tea (洛神花茶), which is prepared by infusing roselle flowers. However, I feel that the drink is too dilute.

As for snacks, an order of Potato Wedges (马铃薯块, RM5.00) comes with Thousand Island dressing. The serving size is quite large as the wedges are meant to be shared.

Moving on to desserts, Pure Coconut Milk Ice Cream (RM3.90) has a combination of slushy and creamy consistencies. The coconut-flavored ice cream is topped with nata de coco, sweet corn and roasted peanuts. Quite a satisfying dessert, I must say.

The restaurant’s ambience is reasonably comfortable. However, the number of tables here is rather limited. For customers who visit regularly, Butter & Olive has a membership program where members get discounts on bread and food.
