Hinode Seimen Udon (日の出製麺うどん) is a small Japanese restaurant at the ground floor of Automall. The eatery is situated between Coffeesmith and Pie Harbour.

The ordering process is codified. First, each customer selects the type of noodle (RM5.90). Available choices are udon (うどん), ramen (ラーメン), pumpkin ramen (カボチャのラーメン) and green tea ramen (抹茶ラーメン). The noodles are imported from Japan.

Next, the customer chooses one of three types of soup: miso (味噌), kelp bonito (昆布鰹の削り節) and spicy (辛い). Kelp bonito soup carries pleasant sweetness, while spicy soup produces cooling sensation on the tongue.

Lastly and optionally, the customer may pick side dishes from an assortment of tempura (天ぷら) such as seafood (海鮮, RM3.50), eryngii mushroom (エリンギ, RM1.50), asparagus (アスパラガス, RM1.00), eggplant (ナス, RM1.00 for 2 pieces) and bitter gourd (ゴーヤー, RM1.00). Overall, I feel that the tempura’s batter coating is too rough; I prefer lighter crisp like the ones served at Marugame Udon. Oden (おでん, RM3.00 for 5 pieces) is also available.
