Ho Yuan Restaurant

This article is part of my 2018 Kota Kinabalu trip series.

Ho Yuan Restaurant (河源茶室) is a small kopitiam in Taman Hiburan. Located behind Cempaka Square, the shop occupies a corner lot. It is mostly frequented by locals.

Chun Kien (蛋卷, RM8.00) is a traditional Hakka dish from Tenom. The roll is made of minced pork and is wrapped with omelette. Chun Kien is steamed and served in clear soup. Frozen ones can be purchased too.

Contrary to popular belief, the word “chun” does not mean “spring” (春), but is derived from the Hakka word for “egg”.
