Sandakan Kopitiam

Sandakan Kopitiam (山打根皮蛋饺) is an open-air restaurant at Sri Kepayan Commercial Centre, near the neighborhood of Taman Ridgeview. Occupying the ground floor of a corner lot, Sandakan Kopitiam is open for breakfast and lunch only.

This eatery serves a variety of noodle dishes such as Signature Tomachi Noodle (招牌刀麻切), Signature Prawn Noodle (招牌虾面) and Signature Curry Noodle (招牌咖哩面).

Following the advice of locals, we opted for Dry Stir Noodle With Meat Cutlet & Century Egg (招牌炸肉皮蛋饺干捞面, RM9.00). Although I love the crispiness of roast pork, I feel that the noodle is not as springy as I hoped it to be.

Nevertheless, the main highlight of this noodle dish are the two century egg dumplings (皮蛋饺). A specialty from Sandakan, the dumplings are filled with pork, prawns and century eggs. The savoriness of century eggs is absolutely satisfying.

Century egg dumplings are also available from the à la carte menu. Frozen ones are available for purchase too.
